The Star Wars Movies

Coming from humble beginnings the Star Wars movie dynasty has grown to proportions previously unseen in movie history. The legacy and history of these movies pervades our society to an amazing extent. Grandparents are now sharing the magic of these movies, which they saw 25 years ago, with not only their children but also with their grandchildren. Such is the impact of the Star Wars Universe that these movies have moved past mere fandom and became a science fiction institution to rival all those that came before and go after it.

The most frightening part of all of this is that Star Wars almost never came to be. George Lucas experienced severe difficulties in sourcing finance to make the first movie Star Wars. Once released it became a groundbreaking smash hit and has led to 2 sequels and an additional 2 prequels with the final prequel Episode 3 finally released to an eager public.
